My goals for this coffee table project were to create a piece that was geometric, sleek, and highly functional. I aimed for exceptional craftsmanship and a design that was visually appealing from all angles. Throughout the process, I wanted to develop my woodworking skills and gain a deeper understanding of what makes good furniture design, both in form and construction.

* Slimming down the table makes for a more graceful form. Re-designing the stretcher allows for a floating effect while preventing the top from cupping. Adding a 4-degree angle to the legs creates a rounded design with all 3 axis being considered.

Finish
First, applied 2 coats of Osmo’s Polyx-Oil to bring out the wood grain. Then, applying ceramic coating to create a protective, hydrophobic finish, ensuring safety from minor scratches and stains.
